Starting around 2 1/2 - 3 years of age every child should begin seeing the dentist every six months. These preventative appointments include cleaning, flouride treatment, oral hygiene instructions, x-ray pictures if needd, and an exam by Dr. Newman.
During this exam Dr. Newman not only checks for cavaties and monitors the child's oral hygiene, but also watches the eruption of the adult teeth and any orthodonic needs the child may have. | |

Sealants Are a thin plastic coating applied to the biting surface of the permanent molars. They are often recommended if the teeth have deep grooves that are susceptible to cavity. The sealant fills in these grooves and helps to prevent cavities.

Fillings Both white (resin) and silver (amalgon) fillings are available. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available to make the visit a more pleasant experience.
